A submodule in a directory causes the entire directory to not be "blob get contents" able.

If you import the jquery library and go to /src/ for example you won't be able to read the blob contents of any of the files there (regex error No match for regexp /(blob|tree)/A ParserBase.php line 83 ) when attempting to $blob->getContents(); of any file.

Most likely would be solved by adding submodule stuff.

This is already fixed in the current codebase: the tree parser now recognizes the commit entry type used by submodules (TreeParser accepts blob, tree and commit), and Tree builds a CommitReference for them instead of failing to parse the rest of the tree. Blob::getContent() also reads content directly via cat-file -p <hash>, independent of tree parsing, so it was never actually affected by this either.

I verified with the test fixture (which contains a barbaz submodule alongside regular files) that reading a blob's content next to a submodule works fine, and opened #243 to add a regression test locking in this behavior.
