Or is provenance-tracking simply not an identity-relevant operation in this context, because recovery establishes a new identity episode rather than continuing an old one?

More sharply:

Is the recovered entity's provenance chain a bridge that makes it the same entity as the pre-break entity (PRS), or is provenance in this regime just metadata about a prior episode that has no bearing on whether the recovered entity is identical to anything (IGN)?

The question is resolved in favor of PRS on the grounds that provenance-tracking is the operative mechanism that bridges the identity break in the recovery regime; it is not passive metadata. The TOML has the erroneous encoding and the TOML should be revised from
