Hey man, I just discovered this program and.... holy YouTube, Batman... This is the app I'm looking for 👋 lol
Warning ⚠️ long read ahead, it is pertinent to this request though and doesn't include any rambling. I promise. Scouts honor. ✋ 🤞 😅
Thank you so much for your hard work. I have an HTPC setup in my living room+bedroom, both have Kodi and YouTube on TV. Both HTPCs are fully controlled via RC6 remotes ie: Xbox 360 and Zune remote as well as "Microsoft Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition". This is all thanks to an AutoHotKey script that runs at boot and stays running in the background and an app called "Advanced MCE Remote Mapper". I use the Xbox guide button to launch YouTube on TV and the Green button for Kodi. It's a seamless experience. You never see Windows exploder...I mean explorer, unless you need it, which is accessible with the Ctrl+Alt+E AutoHotKey shortcut. This is pertinent, I promise.
Anyways, I've accessing YouTube on TV using a portable install of Chrome+AdGuard extension as well as Windows native app+all of the extensions you use here+AutoHotKey+PS5 user-agent string for years now. While it has served purpose, it operated in the "low-end" mode, meaning no transparency, 1080p30fps Max, low-res thumbnails, speed control etc. which annoyed the living hell out of me until I learnt of the "cobalt" user-agent strings and it solved all of my issues.
(Still pertinent info) I had been paying for YT premium for my family but wasn't able to afford it this month so I went down the rabbit hole of patched YouTube apps...for my Galaxy s25 ultra I just used the Re-Vanced patcher, for my childrens' GoogleTV devices, I installed TizenTube, for my HTPC....I switched to Brave browser for it's stellar ad blocking and used about 5 new flags run brave as a portable app, which is inconvenient because I need to manually update it. Anyhow, since then, I've been tweaking my setup and in my search for a better cobalt user-agent string, I discovered this amazing project and it is nearly perfect, which brings me to my feature request... Is there any chance you can add a shortcut for activating the captions, like Ctrl+Shift+C or something similar, so I can map it to my remote? I know this is a first world problem as I just need to navigate to the icon and activate it but I've been searching for a way to do this for years and I'm almost certain it possible since smart TV's caption buttons natively activate captions, so the code is there, but no matter which keyboard combinations I've tried, it just doesn't work.
Thanks for your time and I hope you have a great day man.
