100% synced and 98% syncing

I see 100% synced and below 98% syncing stays forever

If I press sync again, bottom indicator again starts counting but never reaches 100%

Bottom indicator should not do nothing if it says 100% synced

And if it finishes it should be on 100% too

Task problem is that it didn't sync right, files missing

Hi,
indeed it seems there is a problem syncing some files.

1. Please let it run in the background for a few hours.
2. Android will automatically retry failed files a few times, then they will be marked as permanent errors, and you will receive a notification for failed files.
3. Once you get the notification, you will see on the main screen a button to get the list of failed files and the reason why they are failed.

Please report back then, with the error you get.

Having a similar issue but stuck at 20% ;) for quite some time now and just do not get a message or information about what is happening.
So some more debug information on the screen on what is happening would be nice.

can you specify:

• your android version
• which webdav server are you using?

Can you access the logs on your webdavserver?

Or can you get your phone logs with adb?

Can you confirm you didn't get any notification about synchronization failures (which should happen after a few retries)?

As the webserver is not self hosted - I have no access to the logs and adb is also nothing I am capable of using.

I did not get any notification, but went through all the battery settings necessary to setup the application.

I guess you are a new user and this is your first sync.
This is a known issue when you sync files existing on your dav server for the first time: sync percentage goes above 100% (because files on the dav server are discovered as they are synced).
There is nothing to worry about, just quit/launch again the app, and it will display the correct figures.

I had one user experiencing something similar: some files were locked on the server. As soon as the locks were released, proper sync resumed.

I am a new user but I'm still getting a percentage way above 100% (it's 1125% now on every sync). I'm syncing by hand (by pressing the 'Sync now' button).

Hey @vthg2themax: I'm still seeing this after several weeks of sync. My device currently shows (after pressing the Sync now button):
35 local files
223% synced
0% syncing

So I guess there is something wrong with the statistics. Maybe this is because I have more files created on the host than on the phone (I have 77 files altogether in my webdav directory), so maybe 77/35 = 2.2 would be around 223%?

When new files arrive remotely, they are detected and counted as we process each remote file. This means we cannot predict the total number of files (both local and remote) in advance, which results in the sync percentage continually increasing.

I prefer not to scan the remote solely for counting files, as this could be time-consuming and impact performance.

Would a simple display like "+%" or "100+%" be sufficient to indicate progress?

What are your thoughts on this approach?

Hey @phpbg, I'm happy with any progress indicator that clearly shows when things are finished. I think this is the case now already: When the sync is finished the display indicates "NOT running". So I guess just getting rid of the percentage indicator (which is clearly irritating when the end-result is not 100%) should be fine as long as it displays something like "sync in progress". Or, preferred of course, fix the percentage to add up to 100%
Note that I don't have many files on my phone, a progress indicator may be something others with more files to sync would need.
But what about a propfind webdav request? As far as I'm aware you can specify a search depth to recursively enumerate all the files on the host side, I think even 'infinity' for the depth is allowed (an implemented) on most webdav servers.
If files arrive while the sync is already in progress and the propfind was already executed I'm fine with things not adding up to 100%.

Hi, there was a bug that prevented the synced percentage to be accurate (the local file count was not updated without restarting app).
This is fixed in the upcoming 1.22 release that is being published.
