Bare-metal install: fail to init

Describe the bug

The last step in Step 3 from documentation (https://docs.opencloud.eu/docs/admin/getting-started/bare-metal) fails to start the server with error message, that index.html not exist.

Steps to reproduce

1. ./bin/opencloud init --insecure true --admin-password admin
2. ./bin/opencloud server

Expected behavior

Server should starting

Actual behavior

Error:

Setup

Fresh Debian 12 install. Installing go and npm and all other nessessary packages.
Dedicated account.

Did you build openCloud by yourself? Then you missed to run make generate?

make clean generate -C opencloud build -j

I found assets/identifier/index.html within /opt/opencloud/services/idp/assets/identifier. Not sure if this is correct place.

I suspect the docs for bare metal install are a bit misleading. I finally succeeded (on a fresh debian bookworm instance) by running the make steps one by one (generate - -C opencloud build).

What you finally get is a binary like the one you can download from the releases. So to just run opencloud in a bare metal environment there is no need to do the build yourself. Very helpful: the quick start instructions here. You can download the install script and modify it for your needs (instead of launching it directly from the download). It seems that the start of the server needs a couple of environment settings, which you find in the generated runopencloud.sh.

Yeah. Me too. I don't think make clean generate -C opencloud will do what the author expected it to do. (Or it depends on the concrete implementation of make. On my system (gnu make) it changes into the build dir and executes the clean, generate and build targets there. This is not what we need. We need execute the generate and clean targets in the root dir an then the build target in the opencloud dir. I guess it's safer to do that in two separate calls to make.
