What's inside

Nine mini-chapters covering the five parts of the booklet:

# Français English
1 Les symboles de la République Symbols of the Republic
2 Les principes et valeurs Principles & values
3 Le système institutionnel et politique Institutions & politics
4 Les droits et devoirs des citoyens Rights & duties
5 L'histoire de France History of France
6 La géographie de la France Geography of France
7 La culture et le patrimoine Culture & heritage
8 Vivre dans la société française Living in French society
9 L'entretien et l'examen civique Interview & civic exam

Each chapter gives you: simple French + a direct English translation, ⭐ key facts to remember, 📚 a vocabulary list, and 🎤 official-style interview questions with one model answer (personal questions leave write-in space for your own answer).

All illustrations — flag, maps, timelines, institution diagrams — are inline SVG. No external images, no tracking, works fully offline.

Structure / rebuild it yourself

  • index.html — the whole guide as one self-contained file (this is the online version).
  • Guide-du-Citoyen.pdf — the print-ready book.
  • chapters/ — the nine source chapters (each is also a standalone HTML page you can open).
  • build/assemble.py — stitches the chapters + cover into index.html. Run: python3 build/assemble.py.
  • build/_BUILD-GUIDE.md — the rules the chapters were authored to (grounding, design system, structure).

⚠️ Not an official document

This is an unofficial study aid. The content is kept faithful to the official Livret du citoyen (Ministère de l'Intérieur, éd. mai 2026), but always defer to the official booklet and to your préfecture for anything that counts.

Bonne chance pour l'examen ! 🇫🇷
