there's a fix out for this but there is no way to patch your existing installs so you'll need to reinstall manually, curl https://mise.run | sh

Is not manually manually passing the version to self update(mise self-update 2026.1.1) a easier fix or does leave it broken in some way?

First update out of the error:

mise self-update 2026.1.1

And then
