This allows us to ignore invalid values in the elevation map. This could also possibly allow rendering of terrain values below zero, since we can check for intersections below zero.
Since the stored coordinates in the elevation map are the mid points of each grid, we need to consider the left/right/top/bottom side of the grid when comparing the bounds of buildings.
Should provide better performance for higher resolution terrain
