Publish Github Releases

Hey guys, that would be very nice and desired also by me. For instance you do it already for mail client and lumo:

Probably not a big deal to do it for this repo as well.

For everyone who doesn't want to live in Google's world it would be great plus to have a consistent way to obtain the APK file. Obtainium is used by a lot of people around the world. And googleless GrapheneOS is becoming more and more popular.

I agree with all they said.
There's already Proton Mail, VPN, Auth, Lumo on F-droid. Why not adding the rest of the apps on GitHub and on F-Droid too?
A big portion of Proton community don't use Play Store and don't support its use.

The problem became worse, as it seems that they not only do not publish builds outside the Google and Apple ecosystems (which is quite ironic given their positioning as an alternative to said ecosystems), but now they do not even publish the sources for the Android app. There have been several proprietary releases pushed onto the Google Play Store, to which no sources have been published for months now.

This is really concerning, because either it shows lack of commitment to core values and promises made by Proton, or straight up nefarious intent. I am open to other explanations.

Agreed, it is a worrying trend that a company whose selling point is privacy and security is not open-source, and instead seems to serve megacorporate interests. If this is not dealt with by the time Google pushes their Sept 2026 nonconsensual update, I will be withdrawing my Proton support for sure...
