Dead project? Or completed project?

I used Choo a really long time ago and I remembered of it, so I tried running it on Codepen and it works. IIRC it had some issue with <iframe>s reloading, but that's not happening, which is great.

That being said, this project seems quite dead: no releases since 2019, no commits since 2020, last issue is from 2022 and last comment from February. Is it really dead or just completed? If it is dead, there are any spiritual successors?

It depends. There aren't many production users so there hasn't been much activity since the main authors' attention drifted elsewhere. I would personally review bugfix PRs and maybe small features. Whether it's complete or not depends on if the existing feature set suits your use case :)
