You need to do it with your school email, you can't do it with your personal email, I think. Hope this helps |

Hi! @0xviny 👋When applying for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, make sure you: Use your official school email (e.g., ending with .edu, .edu.br, or your institution’s domain). Enter the exact name of your university as it appears on your student ID or official documents, not just the short/common name. If it still gets rejected, you can upload a photo of your student card, transcript, or enrollment certificate to prove your status. I had a similar issue, and providing the official institution name + document solved it. ✅ |

Hi 0xviny ), This usually happens when GitHub’s system cannot clearly match your school name with its database or when the email domain is linked to a different institution. Here’s what you can do:
This is not a problem on your side — it usually happens when GitHub’s system has incorrect or incomplete data about your school. Hope this helps! |

This issue has two layers:
Why This Happens GitHub maintains a database of schools. When you type your school name, it tries to match it against that database. If:
...GitHub gets confused and either rejects you or associates you with the wrong institution. This is a database problem on GitHub's side, not something you're doing wrong. What To Do Step 1 — Use the Exact Official Name Use the full legal name of your institution as it appears on:
For Brazilian schools, this often means using the full name including the state/municipality designation, not the abbreviated name people commonly use. For example:
Step 2 — Select from the Dropdown, Don't Just Type When entering the school name, GitHub shows a dropdown of known institutions. Try to select from that list rather than typing the full name manually. Search using different variations:
Step 3 — Upload Documentation That Proves Your Enrollment Since the email domain is causing confusion, bypass email verification entirely and upload clear proof:
Make sure the document clearly shows:
Step 4 — Open a Support Ticket (This Is the Real Fix) Since the underlying problem is that GitHub's database has your school's email domain linked to a different institution, you need GitHub to fix their records. Open a support ticket and select: Direct link: https://support.github.com/contact → GitHub Education In the ticket, explain:
Step 5 — Add a Note When Reapplying If you reapply before the ticket is resolved, add a clear explanation in any text field available: ▎ "My school email uses a shared state government domain that is registered to a different institution in GitHub's database. Attached is my official enrollment document confirming I attend The support ticket is the most important step — until GitHub corrects the domain-to-school mapping in their database, the automated system will keep getting confused. |

Hi @0xviny This usually happens when GitHub Education cannot match your school name exactly in its database. Even if the name is correct on Google, their system may require a specific official format. You can try the following: Enter the full official name of your institution (avoid abbreviations). If it still doesn’t work, submit a request with proof (student ID or official email), and GitHub will manually verify your application. |

Hi everyone,
I'm facing a problem where I'm putting the correct name of the school but it's saying that I need to be more specific, I put the same name that is on Google. How can I solve it?
