GudCommit Go Implementation Summary

Developer Note: This document describes the Go implementation architecture and development history. For user documentation, see the main README.md.

🎯 Go Implementation Overview

This document outlines the Go implementation of GudCommit, which provides a compiled, cross-platform alternative to the original JavaScript version.

Comprehensive Test Suite

    • ParseCommitResponse - JSON parsing, fallback commits, edge cases
    • ParseChangelogResponse - Changelog generation, markdown fallback
    • ExtractFallbackCommits - Conventional commit extraction

🔧 Configuration

The Go version uses a completely different approach than the JavaScript version:

API Key Authentication (New Approach)

  • Environment Variable: GUD_BEDROCK_API_KEY - Short-term Bedrock API key
  • Region: AWS_REGION (defaults to us-east-1)
  • Model: GUD_BEDROCK_MODEL_ID (defaults to anthropic.claude-3-5-sonnet-20240620-v1:0)
  • Timeout: GUD_HTTP_TIMEOUT_SECONDS (defaults to 60 seconds)

JSON Configuration (Optional)

Users can create ~/.gudcommit.json or ~/.gudchangelog.json:

Key Differences from JavaScript Version

  • No AWS SSM parameters - Direct API key authentication
  • No Bedrock agents - Direct model invocation
  • No IAM users required - Simple API key approach
  • Simpler setup - Just one environment variable
  • Better performance - Direct HTTP requests to Bedrock
  • More portable - Works anywhere with API key
