Light/moderate changes

  • Make current 'edit' icon cancel the current edit
  • Allow for collapsing of left panel
  • Feature: Find missing flows (orphaned localStorage entries that start with 'df_' that aren't in the storage names list)
  • Bug: Renaming flows | if the Data Flow App is open in another window or tab
    • When you create a new flow, it shows up in other open lists
    • When you rename a flow, it does not, and actually can get removed/orphaned from the list
  • Code improvement: Group resize settings into their own map or class
  • 'clump edit count'
    • Before switching flows, maybe have an preference setting to prompt for exporting prior to switching ... maybe do a backup of the current flow

      When a flow is activated, --- there's already a count for how many changes have been made | dataClumpFlowAppSettings: exportReminderCounter Use that count and if not 0, ask if you would like to export before switching flows

  • Consideration: When moving a cell given an 'above' link that is replacing an existing cell already linked to that same 'above', the existing cell is grafted to the end of the moved cell's tail. The existing cell should perhaps be moved to the end of its own column instead.
  • 'showIDs' should show IDs in the lists also
  • Flows: Delete -> Show preview of first clump
  • Flows: Add a URL query param to open a specific data flow // ?flow=docker_flows
    • That would allow for a "share" link
  • Collapsible side menu
  • Add color picker for cells
  • Add a queue for expanded clumps that can be reapplied after repainting the matrix (so cells can stay open after adding or updating)
  • Add a link to pop up the empty page message for pages with data

Potentially slightly bigger changes

  • Feature: 'pre' panel right-click -> Select all (and/or confine Ctrl-A to that panel)
  • Feature: Add a filter to the flow list in the Flow Manager
  • Feature: Add a filter that only shows filtered clumps
  • Add grouping for project-level flows.
  • Add a 'Flow Naming' controller: custom flow names + consistent localStorage keys (e.g. 'df_1', 'df_2', 'df_3').
    • Allow storage names to be descriptive; use a 'join table' to track descriptive names with the actual storage key names.
      • All names in storage should be preceded with: df_ or data_ | df_docker_flows
    • Add a property to 'AppSettingInfo' for a 'custom name' Map (a 2-column lookup table) that ties a custom name to a specific localStorage name (which this app restricts to either snake_case or camelCase).
    • Allow for the renaming of both custom names and localStorage names. Having a custom key name should not break the controller (e.g. grandfathered flow names).
  • Implement: Drag-n-drop of clumps

Maintenance

  • Graft '/data_clump_flow_app' subfolder to root '/dataflow':
    • Move the entire '/data_clump_flow_app' directory up, and delete the other (obsolete) data flow project.
    • Keep existing direrctory and some files with note about redirect to new location (repository root).
    • This will require a tiny bit of file work on the live site.

@BUGS:

Could Not Recreate (at least not initially)

  • Bug: Wrong data shown after creating a new flow
    1. Activate a populated data flow [auth_kdrecall_files] or [_app]
    2. Create a new data flow [app_init_flows]
    3. Activate the newly-created data flow
    4. Observe: data is shown behind modal
  • Bug: View a clump -> Add a 'New Flow' | The clump that was open does close, but the space remains.
  • Bug: Sometimes 'Import Data' will fail silently*.
    • *An error is shown in the dev tools console.
    • Workaround: Try it again. Subequent attempts usually work.
    • Unsure if this still exists after refactor to classes.
  • Bug: After exporting 11 flows, 1 of them didn't export. It did export when exported manually, and did again after a 2nd 'export all'. Perhaps they export too fast and shuold be throttled to every 5 or 10 milliseconds.
  • Bug: With 'showIDs' enabled, somehow I ended up with 2 cells with no IDs. When I edited and saved one, both IDs then showed up (no doubt after another 'renderMatrix').
    • I tried removing one to the right of the 2nd missing cell and added it back, but the ID stayed, so don't know how to recreate yet.
    • The ID removal might've been due to viewing the clumps while editing or adding linked clumps.
    • Side note: Adding the new cell also didn't use the last ID that was deleted.
      • Deleting the cell again, refreshing the page, and adding one back did reuse the last ID (but still didn't remove the ID).

  • Added ability to delete any non-left-linked cells.
    • It used to only allow the last-added clump to be deleted.
  • Added ability to add or move cells under any cell in a column.
    • It used to only add new cells to the bottom of a selected column.
  • Added ability to move 'linked to left' links (e.g. move cells; same as above).
  • Add ability to unlink. N/A (Can now switch between 'above' and 'left' links.)
  • Added an auto-backup/restore feature (basically an "undo" that overwrites 'clumpList' with a backup).
  • Bug fixes.
  • Added a one-time alert with a note to export all storage flows.

  • Fixed a few 'ClumpInfo' legacy property bugs.
  • Fixed bug when deleting the last clump.
  • Renamed storage key for: 'dataflowInitMessage'
  • New feature: Added a checkbox toggle in the Settings panel for showing IDs.

  • Refactored 'ClumpInfo' to allow for legacy props.
  • Do not allow an edit to proceed with no 'linkedTo' selected.
  • Disabled invalid options in 'Column Select' dropdown when editing.
    • Cannot move to the bottom of the edited column, or a column to the right.
  • Handful of bug fixes.

  • More bug fixes for legacy ClumpInfo properties and importing.
  • Got Jest setup. Added a few tests.

  • Bug fix: Added 3 more unescapeHTML converters for 'clumpCode'.
    • Also applied unescapeHTML bug fix to clumpName.
  • UI: Limit width on select dropdowns.
  • New: Tapping an open cell who's clump is not on top, will surface it. Only clumps on top will be closed. Before it would close the clump under the stack, so you couldn't see it being closed.
  • Also renamed some vars for clarity, and scoped everything inside the 'toggleCell' function.

  • Added a modal for a new 'Project Flow Manager' panel.
    • It will allow for more flexible naming, renaming, grouping, and other project-type features.
    • Project Flow Manager modal status:
      • Fixed styling
        • Adapted z-index with 'clipboard' icon.
      • Adapted 'ESC' key functionality with modal.
  • Added ability to rename flow names.
  • Flow names are now sorted in ascending order.

  • Removed one-time alert message suggesting to export all your storage.
    • If anyone is actually using this tool they will have seen this by now.
  • Allow for bulk importing.
    • I recently cleared all the cookies for 'kdcinfo.com' for another project I was working on.
      • Fortunately I use the 'Export All' button fairly often (because I know what losing data feels like).
      • Unfortunately I have a dozen flows to import.
  • Add 'Activate' button to Flow Manager modal.
  • Reminder to export after 'n' updates (where 'n' is saved in settings).

  • Bug: Fixed restore auto-backup; had the wrong key.
  • Change: Added 'df_' prefix to clump lists in localStorage.
  • Change: Let export of 'default' keep the same name.
    • The 'default' flow was being exported as 'dataclumps.json', but the import didn't reverse the conversion back to 'default'. That aside, now that all clump lists are prefixed with 'df_', there's no need to rename the 'default' anymore.
  • Refactor: Swapped out localStorage calls w/ AppStorage.

  • Feature: The topmost open cell should be highlighted.
  • Feature: Change browser title to be active flow name.
  • Feature: Export reminders: 'clump edit count'
    • Added an HTML element for showing current 'clump edit count'.
    • 'Export All' resets 'clump edit count' for all flows.
    • Deleting a flow also deletes its 'export reminder count'.
  • Bug: Exporting (current or all) should dismiss the reminder message.
  • Added small ms delay to 'Export All' loop and file link download click.

Actioned Items

  • Restricted clump edit form textarea resizing to vertical.
  • Added a 'min-height' to clump edit form textarea.
  • Tweaked wording in, and added an 'external link' svg icon to 'empty-page.htmlh'.
  • Added hovers to clump 'edit' and 'delete' icons.
  • Fixed the 'currently edited' clump outline --- it was the same as the 'topmost' outline.
  • Clump Name and Code Clump input labels will no longer move from above the inputs to the left of the inputs on wider screens because there was no reason to sacrifice the horizontal real estate for the Code Clump textarea.
  • Removed sibling project 'function_flow', so this repository can be focused solely on the Data Clump Flow Analysis Tool.
  • Added animation-iteration-count:20 to empty page
    • Ref: The bouncing arrow on the empty page pointing to the Clump Name field.
    • Reason: It can draw quite a bit on the GPU..
  • Defaulted <textarea> height to 150px when popped out. Can still be manually sized, and will revert to the default on the next page refresh or load.
  • Bug fix: previewing more than 2 clumps would obfuscate the 'edit form' when popped out. Increased 'z-index' of the 'edit form' to '999999' to help avoid such conflicts.
  • Bug fix: Toggling IDs with a preview open wasn't closing the bottom-margin (left a 200px black gap where the preview was).
  • Added an up/down sliding transition to the preview panel.
  • Made preview panel height adjustable.
