| 8 | +To achieve the government goal of a smoke-free Britain by 2030, populations with increasing dependence needed access to smoking treatment services which meet their needs. |

| 18 | +People who want more guided support but cannot access in-person services for any reason do not have an NHSE digital service to use. |

| 20 | +Availability of tobacco treatment services is not consistent across the country and does not reach populations with increasing tobacco dependency (younger members of the population, men, and those from more deprived backgrounds). |

| 22 | +A third of surveyed local authorities (33%) did not commission a universal service to help people stop smoking in 2022 (latest available data). |

| 24 | +Local authority tobacco treatment services are mostly delivered face-to-face, which is harder for people who work shifts or travel for their work to access. These services are mostly accessed by the middle-to-older age groups, and fewer men accessing from younger age groups than women. |

| 28 | +Evidence from the national digital weight management service shows that digital services can engage more deprived populations and fill gaps in provision. This evidence comes from increased access and engagement rates across all indices of multiple deprivation (IMD) bands (measure of relative deprivation for small, fixed geographic areas of the UK). |

| 30 | +The core offer of the digital tobacco treatment service (DTTS), which will be free at the point of access, is access to behavioural and motivational support for tobacco dependency, tailored access to live tobacco dependency support, and a free and direct supply of smoking cessation aids. |

| 32 | +Tobacco dependency advisors (TDAs) employed by the digital apps will meet the training standards defined by the National Centre for smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT). The long term goal of the service is to increase the overall available national capacity to treat the 5.6 million adults in England that are smokers, and to improve choice of treatment options through the provision of a service that can be accessed by the service user, at a time and location that suits them. |

| 45 | +Providing NHS Staff with access to digital support services via two external service providers, to help us understand the efficacy of incentive-based models (models where providers are paid based on milestones reached by service users) and begin to evaluate the benefits of digital pathways. |

| 58 | +Our research and design activities focused on leveraging existing data and conducting interviews with stakeholders to ensure we have a strong foundational knowledge of the existing service, before conducting primary research. |

| 61 | +- DTTS team – collaborating with the DTTS team to understand the service proposition and map the end-to-end user journey |

| 173 | +Unfortunately, this work has been indefinitely paused because of the latest spending review. This work is a critical element of preventative services as a reduction of smokers across England reduces future burden on NHS services. |

This allowed us to reflect on our progress and provide a foundation for any teams that may take on the work in the future. |
