Installed the crosspaste app on my android device and on cachy os using the app image. Both the device pairs successfully but does not sync and shows sync fail

@Abhiranjan0001. Thanks for the report! Sync failures between Android and Linux are usually caused by network or firewall issues. Please work through the following steps:

Step 1 — Confirm same network

Make sure both devices are connected to the same local network (same Wi-Fi router or LAN). CrossPaste uses local network discovery and cannot sync across different networks.

Step 2 — Check device details

In the CrossPaste app, tap/click on the paired device to open its detail view. Confirm that:

• The IP address shown matches the actual IP of the other device
• The port number is visible and valid (not 0 or empty)

Step 3 — Test basic connectivity

From your Linux machine, try pinging the Android device's IP:

ping <android-ip>

If ping fails, the issue is at the network level, not CrossPaste itself.

Step 4 — Check your firewall (CachyOS)

CachyOS uses firewalld by default. CrossPaste needs its sync port to be open. You can find the port number in the device detail view from Step 2.

# Check current rules
sudo firewall-cmd --list-all

# Allow the port
sudo firewall-cmd --add-port=<port>/tcp --permanent
sudo firewall-cmd --reload

If you're using ufw instead:

sudo ufw allow <port>
sudo ufw reload

Step 5 — Share log output

On Linux (AppImage), logs are typically located at ~/.local/share/CrossPaste/logs/

btw how to add any app in clipboard source control ? I am using a window manager niri cross paste only captures my clipboard when its in foreground and not in background

@Abhiranjan0001 This is a known limitation — CrossPaste's Linux clipboard monitoring currently relies entirely on X11 (XFixes extension). Niri is a pure Wayland compositor, so when CrossPaste is in the background, it cannot receive clipboard change events from native Wayland apps.

If you have XWayland enabled in your niri config, it may partially work, but clipboard events originating from Wayland-native apps won't be forwarded reliably to XWayland.

We'll need to add native Wayland clipboard support (via wlr-data-control protocol) to properly fix this. Tracking this as a feature request.
